South West Coast Path photo competition

Over the summer the South West Coast Path Team in association with Devon Life, Cornwall Life, Somerset Life and Dorset magazine, are running a competition to find the best pictures of the wonderful landscapes, wildlife and heritage found around our coastline, and of people enjoying being out and about on the Coast Path.

The competition is not just for professional photographers – even a picture taken on a mobile phone or basic digital camera could win a great prize if it captures what is special about the Coast Path. To encourage young talent, there is also a prize for the best picture taken by someone who is 18 years old or under.

The best pictures will be used in a Coast Path calendar – keep checking the latest news page for details of the latest calendar produced using some of the pictures from last year’s competition – to go on sale soon.

With over £3,000 of prizes to be won, including vouchers for photographic equipment, maps, guidebooks and a gps unit, it is well worth entering.

Dog Photographer Of The Year 2010

The Kennel Club is running its prestigious Dog Photographer of the Year Competition for 2010 and, has fabulous prizes for you to win! All that you need is a camera and – of course – a love of dogs!

All entry fees will go to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust (Registered Charity Number 327802). The Charitable Trust makes a difference for all dogs by funding a wide variety of work ranging from supporting research into canine diseases to welfare initiatives and the promotion of support dogs, all of which give dogs healthier and happier lives.

Kolo monthly photo contest

The Kolo Photo Contest is back! Through December 2010, Kolo is announcing a new monthly theme on Kolo.com, Koloist.com and Kolo Facebook. Each month, 15 winners will receive a $50 worth of Kolo merchandise. Contestants may enter up to ten photos per month (per theme).

A new theme will be announced the 3rd week of each month. That theme’s 15 winners will be announced on the 10th of the following month, each month through December 2010.The grand prize and six second-place winners will be announced Feb. 1, 2011. Photographs will be judged by a panel of expert photographers and designers.

July’s theme is FRIEND, which is open to interpretation. Enter up to 10 photos that follow the theme “friend.” The more variety of entries, the better, so have fun with it!

“Friend” deadline is July 31st and the winners will be announced August 10th.

The Digital Photographer of the Year Awards 2010

Digital Photographer and Samsung are joining forces to launch the fourth annual awards, with better prizes and categories than ever before!

Prizes
Our exciting competition categories mean there are six chances for you to win a fantastic Samsung prize.

Overall winner:
The overall winner for the whole competition will win this amazing bundle (pictured left): a Samsung NX10 +18-55 OIS lens +30mm Pancake lens, a 50-200mm f4.0-5.6 OIS lens and a SEF42A flash gun.

Category winners:
Each category winner will win a fabulous Samsung EX1 camera worth £399. They will also win a year’s subscription to an Imagine Publishing magazine of their choice and a print of their image. In contrast to previous years, the format of the awards for 2010 will see a brand new competition category launched in each issue of the magazine. There will be six photographic categories in total – each designed to push the creativity of photographers.

2010 BBC Countryfile Photographic Competition

It’s that time of year again, buds are bursting, birds are singing and the BBC Countryfile Photographic Competition is under way. Last year the competition was more popular than ever, with more than 30,000 entries. The best went into the Countryfile Calendar, which was sold in aid of Children In Need, and raised £779,226 for the charity.

This year, the programme is hoping for even more inspiring entries. The theme is A Moment of Magic, and you can interpret that anyway you wish, as long as your photo captures a magical moment that makes the rest of us wish we’d been there to see it.

Photographs must have the countryside or natural world at their heart, and can feature landscapes, people, British wildlife (plants and animals), farmyard animals or countryside activities, but no pets or garden plants please. And do state if the images are of British wildlife in captivity.

The third annual competition opened in March 2009 with a deadline of November 30th 2009. Uniquely among major photographic competitions, all entrants can receive professional feedback on their entries – after the judging of the competition is completed and on request. The competition is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike. Entries are welcome from any country in the world. There are no restrictions on the type of camera you use, or the techniques you use to produce your final image. You have to pay a fee to enter.
