With its fantastic nature, unique light, magnificent wildlife and plant life, Nordic nature is in a class of its own and we want to promote this via the Nordic Nature Photo Contest, which is international and open to everyone. Except for the category Travel Photo, all images must be shot within in the last three years in one of the Nordic countries, Norway (Spitsbergen), Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands or Greenland.
The Nordic Nature Photographer 2012 A winner among all category winners (except for Travel Photo) will be selected. He/she wins a tour to Spitsbergen from PolarQuest at a value of NOK 54,000, as well as an exhibition containing a maximum of 30 prints from FotoVideo in the winner’s home municipality. In addition the winner receives a Canon A2 photo printer at a value of NOK 20,000.
Travel Photo: Separate category for the nature photographer who likes to travel. You can submit a portfolio containing six nature images from a destination anywhere in the world. However, the images in this category are not part of the contest to become the Nordic Nature Photographer 2012.
As our nature is threatened from many angles we have introduced a separate category focusing on the environment, “Threatened Nordic Nature”.
Threatened Nordic Nature: Focusing on threatened nature in the Nordic countries, images should best visually depict red-listed species or document threats to the biological diversity. These threats can constitute development, pollution, crimes against wildlife etc. You can enter a maximum of five images.
Young Nordic Nature Photographer
We would very much like to promote interest in photography among young people and therefore we will award a “Young Nordic Nature Photographer” under the age of 18. For this competition one submits a portfolio of eight nature images photographed in the Nordic countries.
